Bob & Gloria’s 2025 Mission to Uganda
We’re excited to share that Bob and Gloria are preparing to return to Rushaga Village in Uganda—the heart of Heart 2 Heart’s pioneering work. In partnership with local leader Richard Mwesigwaand a team of five full-time staff members, this mission began in 2025 with a bold vision: to establish a nursery and primary school for 50 Batwa and vulnerable children living in extreme poverty.
What started with a single classroom has grown step by step, phase by phase, dollar by dollar, into a budding development center called “Faith, Hope & Love”. It’s more than a school—it’s becoming a beacon of transformation for the entire Rushaga community in the Kisoro District.
The Need:
Help Us Reach the Finish Line
Bob and Gloria have already secured their airline tickets, but there’s still a financial gap to make this 30-day trip possible. We’re currently raising $6,500 to cover essential needs, including:
Renting a reliable vehicle for transportation in rural Uganda
Purchasing food and bottled water for the five-member ministry team
Renting a safe, simple house near the village for the duration of the mission
Funding outreach activities and supplies
Your donation is 100% tax-deductible through Heart 2 Heart International, a registered nonprofit dedicated to serving the vulnerable and the poor.
We ask you to pray, give, and sow generously into this mission. Every dollar makes a real difference.
A Special Cooking Celebration for the Children
One of the highlights of this trip will be a joyful cooking project with the children and families in Rushaga. Over the past year, the kids at Heart 2 Heart have been growing their own vegetables—learning responsibility, sustainability, and the value of hard work.
Now it’s time to celebrate!
joyful cooking
Families can learn to cook together, enjoy the harvest, and have fun as a community.
We’re planning a fresh fruit and veggie feast, plus a BBQ cookoutwhere the kids and their families can learn to cook together, enjoy the harvest, and have fun as a community. This project will require additional funding for ingredients and supplies—but we believe it will be an unforgettable memory for these children.
Promoting Local Sustainability: Jungle Java House
While in Rushaga, Bob and Gloria will also be visiting The Jungle Java House—a locally inspired café and training hub that promotes Heart 2 Heart Nursery & Primary School. Jungle Java not only supports the mission’s presence in the village but also empowers local teens through vocational skills and tourism training.
This social enterprise is just one more way that Heart 2 Heart Hand N Hand Intl continues to build sustainable solutions—keeping staff employed and projects moving forward even when our teams are abroad.
Be Part of the Story
This mission is more than a trip—it’s a continuation of a life-giving journey that brings education, hope, and opportunity to children who need it most.

Heart 2 Heart: Changing Lives in Uganda
Updates from Rushaga Village, located in Uganda’s Kisoro District on the edge of the breathtaking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Here, the Heart 2 Heart Nursery and Primary School continues to serve as a beacon of hope for the Batwa (pygmy) families and other vulnerable children in the region.
Your generous support has made a tremendous difference in the lives of children who would otherwise go without education, meals, or safety. With your help, we are taking meaningful steps toward building a future where every child can grow, learn, and thrive.
Education in the Midst of Poverty
Heart 2 Heart Nursery & Primary School currently educates 50 children—18 of them Batwa—ranging in age from nursery to early primary. When we opened, many of the children who came to us had never set foot in a classroom, some even as old as 15. With limited resources, we’ve had to turn away many others due to lack of space and funding.
Thanks to recent support we’ve been able to pay a modest monthly salary to our four teachers and cook, and we’re providing breakfast and lunch for every enrolled child, five days a week.
School Conditions & Infrastructure Needs
While we are thankful to have a functioning school, the physical conditions remain dire:
The school operates in two extremely old buildings, likely over 30 years old, with leaky roofs, broken floors, poor lighting, and dangerously narrow doors.
Three classrooms are shared by four classes. One classroom is shared by two groups at once, creating distraction and confusion for both students and teachers.
Most children in the youngest classes still sit on the floor, writing on their laps, due to a shortage of desks.
All 55 people on campus—students, teachers, and staff—share a single pit latrine.
The school has no electricity, making evening safety and printing difficult and hindering learning.
The good news: a local electrification program is underway and we hope to be included. However, we will need funding for connection fees and interior wiring to be part of this effort. We are in the planning stage of this construction and have the blueprints already but need funding to get this project going.

Water Access Project
Right now, students walk nearly two kilometers each day to collect clean water, which takes away from learning and puts their health at risk from typhoid. A nearby underground water source has been identified just 300 meters away. We have our eye on mountain land of 2 acres where the water is located that costs $15,700. This land will also be used for growing food. The cost to tap this clean water, pipe it to the school, and install a 10,000-liter storage tank is approximately $4,000. Donations for this project are greatly appreciated as this is a high priority for the sustainability of the program.

Building Self-Reliance
With donor support, we have started small agricultural initiatives:
We recently acquired a pregnant pig that is expected to give birth this November.
We maintain a rabbitry and vegetable garden to help supply food and income.
Our long-term vision is to equip each student’s household with a starter piggery or rabbitry to help lift families out of extreme poverty and reduce stress on forest ecosystems.
We Need Your Help
Despite everything we’ve accomplished, we are still facing a significant shortfall. We invite you to get involved in one or more of the following ways:
Student Support: Just $45/month provides a student with meals, school supplies, medical care, teacher support and helps support their family through sustainable farming.
Fund a desk: For $45, you can give a child a proper place to sit and learn.
Give toward water access: Help us raise $4,000 to bring clean water to the school.
Support classroom construction: With more space, we can welcome more children into the safety and promise of learning. We are just in the planning stages of construction.
100% of donations are going to each project that is given, admin costs are paid by H2H Intl. (If you feel led to give towards admin costs that would be appreciated as well) For questions or to connect directly, email us at h2hintl1@gmail.com
