Sew in Love: Stitching Skills, Confidence, and Opportunity

Sewing their Future
A new chapter is beginning in Rushaga Village—one that is being stitched together with purpose, creativity, and hope.
Our sewing ministry, “Sew in Love,” has officially begun, and already we are seeing the first signs of something meaningful taking shape. What started as a simple idea is quickly becoming a hands-on opportunity for growth, learning, and transformation within the community.
Through this program, older girls are learning practical, life-giving skills that reach far beyond the sewing table. They are gaining the ability to repair clothing, create useful items, and contribute in a way that brings value not only to their own lives, but to their families and those around them. These are skills that meet immediate needs today while also opening doors for tomorrow.
What begins with a single sewing machine is becoming something much bigger—a foundation for confidence, a pathway toward independence, and a step into a future filled with purpose. Each stitch represents progress, each lesson builds capability, and each girl involved is stepping into a new sense of what is possible.
““She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.””
AtThe Heart Behind It
This ministry is being led by Scoville, a talented seamstress and the cook’s wife at the school, who is now stepping into a teaching role. She is training older girls how to sew—passing down knowledge that can change the course of their lives. From learning how to repair worn clothing to creating new garments, these girls are gaining hands-on skills that are both meaningful and practical within their own community.
Meeting Real Needs
In a place where resources are limited, something as simple as the ability to sew becomes incredibly valuable.
This program is already helping to:
Repair tattered clothing for children and families
Begin creating school uniforms locally
Provide a skill that can generate income
Instead of relying on outside resources, the community is beginning to build solutions from within.
Looking Ahead
The vision for this ministry goes far beyond the classroom.
As skills grow, so does the opportunity to:
Create handmade items
Develop a sustainable source of income
Open a future Heart 2 Heart Shop
This is about more than sewing—it’s about equipping young women with tools that lead to long-term stability and purpose.
Faith & Purpose
“I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me find Me. Blessings come to those who set their minds on God’s love.”
— Proverbs 8:17
Faith + Purpose
At the center of everything is something deeper than skill-building.
It’s about purpose. This ministry is a reminder that when opportunity meets faith, lives begin to change in powerful ways.
What started as a single sewing machine is now becoming a movement of growth, dignity, and empowerment.
Each stitch represents more than fabric—it represents a future being built, one skill at a time.
