Some stories remind us why compassion, opportunity, and faith can change the course of a life. Julius’ story is one of those stories.
Julius grew up facing circumstances no child should have to endure. After experiencing the deep loss and uncertainty that comes with orphanhood, his future once felt distant and unclear. But through the support of caring people and organizations like Heart 2 Heart Hand N Hand International, a different path began to unfold.
Julius was raised at His Family Youth Home in Maliki Village, Kenya, where he began to discover something powerful—when someone believes in you, everything can change.
Education became his turning point.
When Julius was accepted into the Mpesa Foundation Academy on a full International Baccalaureate scholarship, it opened a door that once seemed impossible. The program challenged him academically and personally, helping him discover strengths he never knew he had.
“I learned that I am curious, determined, and capable of more than I ever imagined,” Julius shared.
Through hard work and perseverance, Julius graduated with first-class honors and ranked among the top students in his school. His success was not just an academic milestone—it was proof that a child’s past does not determine their future.
Today, Julius is continuing that journey.
He is now studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya, and has just begun his second semester. The path is not easy, but Julius embraces the challenge with determination and gratitude.
“If I had to describe my relationship with engineering right now, I’d say it’s complicated,” Julius says with a smile. “The concepts are fascinating, but the workload is starting to show its teeth. I spend more time with my scientific calculator than I do with my friends, but I’m slowly learning to speak the language of electrons—and that’s a pretty cool trade-off.”
Even in the pressure of university life, Julius remains focused on something bigger than himself. His dream is to design sustainable technologies that can uplift underserved communities—bringing opportunity, innovation, and hope to places that need it most.
